Vauxhall Wins Gold

Vauxhall Motors were delighted to receive an award earlier this month.  They were presented with the Talent Match Mark Gold Award by Natasha Wotherspoon from Youth Employment UK.  David Connell, Vauxhall’s Human Resources Director received the award on behalf of the company.

“Vauxhall are delighted to achieve the Gold Award for the work we have been doing.  Our engagement with young people and their development in learning is paramount to us. We are very proud that we have been able to run programmes that have aided many young people.  Vauxhall is committed to giving youth the chance to experience the real life world of work, enabling them to make informed decisions regarding their future, taking into account the opportunities that are available to them locally,” said David Connell.

The award is to celebrate outstanding employers who are youth friendly and Vauxhall has come out strong in their youth engagement.  The award boast four levels, bronze, silver, gold, free of charge with an accredited assessment available at Platinum Level. It shows how far the company takes a young person in their career stages to work.

Vauxhall has worked with over 2000 young people in the last twelve months.  The young people range from primary school to university level. They have also branched out and supported disabled, young adults with needs and young people who are not in education, earning or learning (NEET).  Vauxhall engage with schools to deliver curriculum based activities outside of the classroom. A large number of employees have signed up to be STEM ambassadors offering their time and experience to engage young people in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths.

Youth Employment UK is a specialist organisation that works with all stakeholders responsible for helping a young person to get into work. Their main aim is to reduce unemployment and that is why engagement with business partners is so important. "Ensuring that employers are supported and recognised for providing quality opportunities is key, Vauxhall are worthy winners of the Talent Match Gold Award,” said Natasha Wotherspoon from Youth Employment UK.
