Personal, social and employability (PSE) qualifications: national standards consultation

The Department for Education (DfE) is consulting on the draft of new national standards for PSE qualifications, and the guidance to support the interpretation of national standards.

The consultation seeks feedback on the technical detail from professionals working in the post-16 education sector but also to gather the wider view from otehr including students, parents or carers.

As part of qualifications reforms in Post -16 education in England, the DfE are seeking to improve Personal, Social and Employability qualifications (PSEQs) (including Independent Living qualifications).

This consultation presents the new National Standards, alongside proposals on how they should be used to create new qualifications. The qualifications are designed to serve a range of students, both young people and young adults, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities and those from income-deprived backgrounds.

The consultation covers:

  • views about the suitability of the standards to support students to gain sustainable employment, progress in education or develop independent living skills
  • feedback on the supporting proposals

The consultation is open until 20th May, have your say here.
