Navigating Career Progression with Paragon Skills – A Pathway to Success

Paragon Skills have shared why apprenticeships are a great opportunity for career progression and the opportunities you have!

Apprenticeships provide a unique opportunity to gain long-term practical skills for your chosen route. If you are just entering the world of work, coming back from a career break, or even changing industry, apprenticeships are invaluable for training a high proportion of our workforce across the country. It is important to realise the career progression that can be built on top of your apprenticeship. You can use your apprenticeship to propel your career for years to come.

What is career progression?

Career progression is the journey you undertake as you travel through the working world in the various jobs you take. This can be from reaching goals, finding your perfect job, rising the ranks in a business, and more. Career progression is unique to you and what you want but we will explore how apprenticeships can help on this journey.

Many apprenticeships work within a bigger group in a sector and offer a route for natural progression. You can continue with another apprenticeship straight after you finish one leading to continuous learning. An easy example of this is you can go from entry Level 2 apprenticeships all the way up to Level 7 degree apprenticeships. You can find an example of career progression we recommend for our care apprenticeships.

As you can see there are many paths you can take, and this isn’t just in one area. As you rise through the ranks in a business you might find yourself with aspirations to become a team manager and take on more responsibilities. This is when you would look to change to a team leader/ supervisor apprenticeship. When looking at your career pathways you should look to use apprenticeships as a tool to get to where your own aspirations are.

A tip we would give is always to remain open with your managers about your will to continue to learn. When you are coming to the end of your apprenticeship sit down and think about what is next, where you want to be in 5 years, and what you need to do to get there.

Our Tutors are happy to help you with this, we are here to help you get to where you want to be.
