This video explores employment data and the three economic situations a person might find themselves in: employment, unemployment and inactivity. It explores the relationship and how the numbers are produced.

ONS independently produces the estimates from the Labour Force Survey.

This video clarifies the the three different economic situations as:

Employed: Someone who does more than one hour of paid work

Unemployed: Someone not employed but looking and available for work

Inactive: Someone who is neither employed nor unemployed
