A bit about me

I have recently finished my A levels in Biology psychology and chemistry. I thrive on meeting new people and listening to their stories. I enjoy playing  badminton and love to volunteer in my leisure hours.

What inspired me to be a Youth Employment UK Youth Ambassador?

Youth Employment UK work for young people who are struggling to get work, or being in work. I was a young person struggling to get into work – and after getting it I still struggle to be in it. Being a young person, I could relate to all the hard work being done by this organisation. And I wanted to help other people like me.

My involvement so far…

I have been part of mental health forums where we have talked about mental health at work places, and I have also taken part in the Youth Voice Census.

How volunteering as a Youth Ambassador has helped me

These events have helped me to increase my confidence and provide me with knowledge that is very useful at work. I have become good at communication and don’t  really get nervous in meetings.

Advice I would give a young person who was unsure about volunteering

It is a good idea to do something which adds value to your life. You will get to learn a lot of new skills and will be able to polish your existing skills.

Being a Youth Ambassador in just one sentence…

Always learning new things.

What do people in charge really need to know about youth employment today?

Organisations: As young people we are not just about criticising you for your work around young people, but we can help you to make it better.

What has given me the most confidence on my career journey so far?

Attending meetings and talking to new people from different fields and areas has helped me get the confidence I was lacking in my life.

My advice to someone who isn’t feeling confident about their skills or future…

We all start from somewhere to get the skills we have today. So don’t be demotivated about something that you can learn and develop.

Advice I would give myself 5 years ago

It was a good decision to join Youth Employment UK and kudos to you for being in it.
