Logistics careers can take you far… and quickly!
Even though Tienne Oates is only 23, she is still manager of her own projects. Her full job title is Logistics Project Manager. In the world of supply chain (moving products around the country to where they’re needed most) she makes decisions, and people go to her for answers! It’s a big responsibility, but Tienne’s training in her logistics career has given her the confidence and knowledge to handle it. “It’s so great that I’m always able to answer their questions,” she says.
What makes logistics careers a feelgood career move?
Everyone is different, but what Tienne loves is that she works with such a wide range of people. They can be different ages and from different locations, but everyone has something different to offer as part of an extended team.
Another perk for Tienne is that there’s always something to do. “I think that’s what’s so exciting – everything is always changing within my role!”
Taking the NOVUS degree route to a logistics career means you can try a little bit of everything.
Tienne got so quickly to where she is today thanks to a NOVUS degree at Aston University.
“I actually covered many different modules, which is the most exciting thing about logistics,” says Tienne of her uni experience. “I had law, I had finance… I actually did a bit of business studies but then I also looked into the warehousing side, and how warehouses are designed, and how things move around… so I had an air transport module and also ones in road and rail. I basically covered everything you need in logistics.”
“The training that I received means I can go into any different profession and it’s completely transferrable. I could go global with the things that I’ve learned.”
