Job Description

We have four fixed-term opportunities to join our Global Peer Review team as Systems Support Coordinators . Reporting to the Systems Support Manager, the Systems Support Coordinator acts as an expert for ScholarOne Manuscripts/Editorial Manager, on which they will work exclusively.

What you will be doing:

  • Using JCH (Journals Communication Hub) to respond to in-coming user queries in a helpful and efficient manner, offering user support that reduces variation and improves standardisation across our systems estate, keeping the author in mind as their key customer when making changes.
  • Providing user training and may be called upon to test new system features from time to time, feeding back to managers or vendors as necessary.
  • identifying issues that occur frequently in their query load and flag these to their line manager for potential process documentation.
  • Delivering high quality ScholarOne Manuscripts/Editorial Manager helpdesk support services, covering systems maintenance and user education for our diverse journal.
  • Escalating blockers and risks appropriately to line manager.
  • Acting as a point of escalation for vendor-based staff working on our Journals Helpdesk and creating process documentation for the Helpdesk team

Qualifications

  • Calm and logical response under pressure
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Handle and communicate information sensitively and professionally
  • Basic project management skills and understanding of Agile methodologies
  • Understanding of academic publishing, preferably Journals
  • Effective team player, able to prioritise workload effectively to accommodate competing demands.
  • Ability to influence and persuade
  • Awareness of Lean process improvement principles would be an advantage.
  • Active knowledge sharing, with regard to peer review systems and data manipulation.
  • Financial, industry and Commercial awareness
  • Customer focus
  • Lifelong learner and growth mindset, prepared to manage own learning by identifying skills gaps and proactively seeking line manager support to address them.
