Help Us Move On And Youth Employment UK Event

The Help Us Move On report published in 2019 set out a number of recommendations across the Southampton area to support young people to transition into adult life. Having actioned a number of these recommendations related to housing, our group now turns it’s focus to Employment, Training and Education.

Even before the challenges related to Covid occurred, young people locally indicated the need for greater support to transition from secondary education into sustainable employment or further education and study. This journey is particularly challenging for those with additional needs and barriers.

On June 17th at 2pm to the Help Us Move On group introduced FREE tools and resources to assist them to become “Youth Friendly Employers”. Youth facing employers can play a key role in improving the prospects of young people in their local communities and we hope you will join us in our mission to improve outcomes for young people into adulthood. Our hope is that the young people of Southampton will begin to recognise and look for local employers with a Youth Friendly Employer badge.
