Youth Employment UK & SLQ partnership announcement

We are pleased to announce a partnership between SLQ and Youth Employment UK aiming to develop an accredited pathway of Young Professional learning recognised by employers.

Our collaboration has seen us create a framework that will ensure that qualifications offered for
Young Professionals demonstrate and recognise the development of the 5 skill areas of Communication, Self-belief, Teamwork, Self-management and Problem solving.

SLQ Chief Executive, Richard Norman said: With the need for young people to be equipped with vital employability skills ever more important, we are delighted to partner with Youth Employment UK to ensure our qualifications help young people to realise their potential.

Youth Employment UK Chief Executive, Laura-Jane Rawlings said: “Our Young Professional resources have been supporting young people to be better prepared for the workplace for some time. We are delighted to partner with SLQ to create a framework that will further embed the 5 core skills in a young person’s journey to employment.”

The partnership is based around developing a suite of recognised qualifications which will allow
young people to demonstrate their behaviour development to their future destinations. The framework and the qualification suite have been developed through research conducted by Youth Employment UK in 2017 which clearly identified the need for young people to develop these five
skills for them to be deemed employment ready.

This partnership comes at a crucial time as the recognition grows for the importance of  personal development of behaviours and skills, alongside technical and academic learning. The new Ofsted framework and work with professional standards, show that there is a need to standardise the approach to behaviour development and enable education organisations to evidence how they are helping young people on their journey to employment or further training.
