The Ipswich and Suffolk Club is a private members club that offers a varied range of social, sporting and fine dining benefits to its members and is also available for hire to both members and non-members as a fine venue for small to medium-sized meetings, conferences, civil weddings, private parties and functions.

This role will involve learning how to prepare lunches and dinners on the restaurant fine dining menu, supporting the chef with his duties, learning the important of hygiene as well as health and safety when it comes to preparation of food.

  • Cutting/Chopping food
  • Cooking varied meals on the menu from scratch
  • Assisting the chef with numerous duties such as food preparation
  • Wiping down all units and washing up
  • Practising standard Health and Safety at all times
  • Communicating well with the chef and surrounding staff members.

This Traineeship work experience is part of an education and training programme that is focused on giving young people the skills and experience that employers are looking for. At its core is the Work Preparation training, English and maths for those who need it, and a high quality work experience placement.

Are you eligible?

  1. Are you currently not in a job? Do you have little or no work experience?
  2. Are you aged 16 to 24 and qualified below Level 4 (A level)?

 

Training to be provided

This Traineeship opportunity includes work preparation training, functional skills maths and English support for those who require it and a high-quality work experience placement.

You will gain work experience and get on the job training to develop in this role and hopefully progress on to the apprenticeship.

This Traineeship opportunity includes 2 elements:

  • Quality ‘on the job’ work experience. You will become a member of the existing team and learn aspects of work within the administration sector, gaining valuable insight into the company and the industry
  • Work preparation training and employability skills, along with maths and English support for those who require it, as part of the ‘off the job’ training element of the programme. This will be through 1 day a week minimum attendance at WS Training Ltd, 37-43 Fore Street, Ipswich, IP4 1JL
