Traineeship details

 

You will be given the use of a laptop, if needed, to help you with your training.

A traineeship offers you a work experience placement and an interview that could lead to an apprenticeship, job or further training.

If you have little or no work experience and are motivated to work, then please get in touch.

You must be aged 19-24 years and be qualified below level 4.

Work experience will include a wide variety of roles and tasks that you can get involved in to help grow your confidence, gain more experience and increase your skill set.

Duties will include some of the following:

  • Helping assist customers on the sales floor and this may include working at the sales desk
  • Keeping the sales floor fully stocked and looking its best to attract customers
  • Contacting customers on the telephones to arrange deliveries
  • Helping with special promotions/special events on the shopfloor
  • Assisting the paid team with admin and paperwork
  • Working behind the scenes in our stock rooms helping get stock ready for sale
  • Warehouse duties including booking in stock, unloading deliveries, moving stock, building flat pack furniture and helping to check that electrical items are working properly – (these roles are only available in the Home Stores – Furniture Stores)

The traineeship is unpaid, but you will get help with transport, meals and work clothing for your work experience.

 

Training to be provided

This Traineeship opportunity includes work preparation training, Functional Skills maths and English support for those who require it and a high quality work experience placement.

The traineeship programme will give you the skills that you need to succeed in a career in retail and could lead to a Level 1 Award in Retail Knowledge.

Pre-work training includes a Level 1 Award in Skills for Employment, Training and Personal Development.

If required, help will be given with English, maths and digital skills.

The training will include:

  • Health & safety
  • Selling
  • Teamwork
  • Handling stock
