Worried about redundancy?

If you are an apprentice in Birmingham and have been made redundant, or you believe you are at risk of redundancy, support is available. In the first instance you should talk to your college or training provider, they will work with you to secure a new employer.

The government have launched the Redundancy Support Service for Apprentices and you can access information online by visiting the website or by calling 0800 015 0400 to get free advice, find new opportunities, and access local and national support services offering financial, health and wellbeing, legal and careers advice.

Find a new apprenticeship

All apprenticeships are advertised on GOV.UK’s Find An Apprenticeship website, where you can search for vacancies in your area.

The Building Birmingham Scholarship provides access to a wide range of education, employment and training opportunities for talented young people aged 16 to 24, who wish to pursue a career in the construction and built environment industries. This includes apprenticeships.

You can apply for financial support to help towards tuition fees for those who wish to continue their studies at HE level at a local college or university on relevant courses

Support to find a job, including help with completing application forms, interview practice and detail of local vacancies is available locally at:

Birmingham Careers Service is a free and friendly support service providing careers information, advice and guidance to young people aged 16 to 19 who are not in education, employment or training (NEET). If a young person has a learning difficulty and/or disability then we can help them until they are 25. We are part of Birmingham City Council and we work alongside other local services.

Young people aged 16 – 29 in Birmingham and Solihull who are looking for employment, education or training can access our one-to-one personalised support through the Youth Promise Plus project #promiseyoungfutures
