About the opportunity

Reporting to the site Health, Safety and Training Manager, The Health, Safety and Training Officer will be responsible for assisting in the co-ordinated management of the site Health and Safety. In this position the Health, Safety and Training Officer must work proactively with both employees and management to establish and maintain up to date safe working procedures and systems of work across all areas of the site.

The Health, Safety and Training Officer will be responsible for ensuring compliance with current legislation, industry standards, and company safe working procedures and be passionate about making a difference.

Hours of Work:

In this role, you will work Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, with the need for some flexibility and some weekend work may be required.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Daily site policing of all departments to proactively ensure compliance
  • Establish a positive cultural attitude towards health and safety
  • Identify training requirements in the work force and follow up accordingly
  • Investigate and attend all accidents/incidents that occur and collate all information and create reports accordingly
  • Provide assistance with all audits, both internal and external
  • Risk Assessments –Review and amend risk assessments to ensure that all areas of the factory are assessed and are accurate.
  • Safe Working Procedures –Assist with reviewing, writing and implementing new processes and procedures
  • Maintain training files and matrix and ensure sign offs are up to date and audit ready at all times

Knowledge & Experience

  • Positive Attitude towards Health, Safety and Training within a business
  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • NEBOSH qualification is desirable
  • Train the trainer qualification would be advantageous.
  • Confident presentation skills and not afraid to speak to people
  • Excellent communicator at all levels within a business
  • Self motivated and able to work on your own initiative
  • Able to contribute actively as a team player
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Competent IT skills
