About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join the University of Oxford as an Apprentice Education Assistant within a small, friendly admin team in the Nuffield Department of Women’s & Reproductive Health. The department who undertakes vital research across the fill spectrum of women’s health, focused on Cancer, Global Health, Maternal & Fetal Health and Reproductive Medicine and Genetics.

The Nuffield Department of Women’s & Reproductive Health has three main groups of students: undergraduate medical students (who join the department in groups of about 30 for seven-week teaching blocks), postgraduate research students (who may be completing a doctorate or research masters), and students on the department’s taught MSc in Clinical Embryology.

You will work closely with the Education Manager and Graduate Studies Administrator (GSA) to support undergraduate and research students working in the department.

About the apprenticeship

As part of this role, you will undertake an Apprenticeship with Abingdon & Witney College, where you will complete a Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship in Business and Administration. You will work at the Nuffield Department of Women’s & Reproductive Health in Oxford.

As part of your apprenticeship, you will be required to attend either the Abingdon or Witney Campus for 10 days or professional training (1 day per week, over 10 weeks). In total, it will take 2 years to complete all elements of the apprenticeship, with support from the Department, University, and College throughout.

About you

You will be passionate about starting your career in Business Administration and excited about the opportunity of becoming an apprentice at the University of Oxford. You may be starting your career or you may be looking for a career change.

To complete the level 3 apprenticeship you will need to evidence passes at 9-4 or A*-C in GCSE Maths and English. If you did not achieve these grades, do not let that put you off from applying as you can study Functional Skills as part of the apprenticeship giving you the equivalent qualifications needed.

To help check that you have the potential to achieve these, Abingdon & Witney College will ask you to complete a short initial assessment during the application process, there are also government residency requirements for Apprenticeship funding which the Training Provider will be able to advise on.
