We welcome school and college leavers to join our firm and kick start their career with us in areas of Bookkeeping and Accounts and practical experience. You will be given the responsibility of having client exposure from day one within varied sectors, working with other members in the team.

Haines Watts is committed to supporting their trainees to successfully achieve their end goal of becoming an authentic qualified accountant and will provide extensive training offering a full study package including qualification funding for the AAT, study leave, college based tuition and a mentor who will support the trainees throughout in successfully completing their qualification. After successful and satisfactory completions of the 24 month apprentice programme, you would be offered the opportunity to study additional professional qualifications. The Bookkeeping and Accounts Trainee duties will be:

Bookkeeping:

  • Prepare income and expense analysis using the firm’s cloud bookkeeping software;
  • Use this data to prepare quarterly VAT returns;
  • Assist with the preparation of management accounts;
  • Liaise with clients to complete filings and to answer any queries;

Accounts preparation:

  • Reconcile purchase, sales and general ledger entries;
  • Prepare accounting schedules such as fixed asset registers;
  • Make postings using the firm’s accounting and working papers software;

Other:

  • Prepare returns and other documents for filing with Companies House or HM Revenue and Customs as instructed;
