About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join the University of Oxford as an Apprentice Software Test Analyst in the IT Services department.

The role of IT Services is to ensure that the University of Oxford has the robust, reliable, and high-performing IT facilities it requires to support the distinctive needs of those engaged in teaching, learning, research, administration, and strategic planning.

This is an opportunity to join the Testing Team as an Apprentice Software Test Analyst, helping to deliver software testing across many different technologies. You will work closely with experienced Testing professionals to deliver both functional and non-functional testing for IT projects.

Covering a wide range of systems, technologies, and methodologies you will be able to learn and develop your Testing skills, understanding of IT systems and the processes necessary for successful IT projects.

Grade and salary: Apprentice Grade 1A £20,047

Hours: Full time (36.5 hrs/week)

Contract type: Fixed-term Apprenticeship (24 months)

About the apprenticeship

As part of this role, you will undertake an Apprenticeship with Digital Native UK, where you will complete a Level 4 Higher Software Tester Apprenticeship.

For this apprenticeship, you will work at the University of Oxford, IT Services department in Oxford. As part of your apprenticeship, you will be registered as a member with the British Computer Society and be on a fast track to an industry recognised qualification and your dedicated industry coach will support you through a blended approach that will include remote, in person, 1-2-1 and group learning. You will be given one apprenticeship day per week, three of these will be remote and you will be required to attend face to face sessions for one day per month in Oxford.

In total, it will take 18 months to complete the technical elements of the apprenticeship, with a further 3 months to complete the End Point Assessment (EPA) with support from the Department, University, and College throughout.

About you

You will be passionate about starting your career in Software Testing and excited about the opportunity of becoming an apprentice at the University of Oxford. You may be starting your career or you may be looking for a career change.

To complete the Level 4 Apprenticeship you will have a minimum of 7 GCSEs at grades A*-C/9-4 (or equivalent) including Maths and English Language.

Ideally you will also have 3 A Levels at grades A*-C (or equivalent) in any subject and preferably one in a numerical or computing subject (eg maths, science, computer science etc.)

Applications will also be considered from graduates looking for an apprenticeship route to a tech career.

To help check that you have the potential to achieve these, Digital Native UK will ask you to complete a short initial assessment during the application process. There are also government residency requirements for Apprenticeship funding which the Training Provider will be able to advise on.
