About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join the University of Oxford as an Apprentice HR Administrator in the Nuffield Department of Medicine, Experimental Medicine Division.

The successful candidate will have an aptitude for business administration. Through this appointment they will gain a practical insight into the Human Resource function within the Nuffield Department of Medicine, Experimental Medicine Division and the administration required to support an employee and the business throughout the employment lifecycle. The HR department is a critical function and provides professional services to a wide variety of employees, key stakeholders, and external clients to facilitate the delivery of the Department’s objectives.

The successful candidate will work very closely with the Senior HR Officers to provide administrative HR support to the department. This is a generalist role, which means that you will have the opportunity to learn about and practice the complete range of HR services, such as recruitment, induction, contract preparation, payroll, reward and recognition, employee relations issues and change management.

About the apprenticeship

As part of this role, you will undertake an Apprenticeship with Abingdon and Witney College, where you will complete a Business Administration Level 3 Apprenticeship which is within the Business sector, and you will gain an Advanced Business Administration Level 3 Apprenticeship.

For this apprenticeship, you will work at the NDM Experimental Medicine Division in the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford. As part of your apprenticeship, you will be required to attend Abingdon and Witney College.

During your apprenticeship, you will need to attend 10 single day workshops over the duration of the apprenticeship at either Abingdon or Witney campus.

In total, it will take two years to complete all elements of the apprenticeship, with support from the Department, University, and College throughout.

About you

You will be passionate about starting your career in Business Administration/HR and excited about the opportunity of becoming an apprentice at the University of Oxford. You may be starting your career or you may be looking for a career change.

To complete the level 3 apprenticeship you will need to evidence passes at 9-4 or A*-C in GCSE Maths and English. If you did not achieve these grades, do not let that put you off from applying as you can study Functional Skills as part of the apprenticeship giving you the equivalent qualifications needed. To help check that you have the potential to achieve these, Abingdon and Witney College will ask you to complete a short initial assessment during the application process. There are also government residency requirements for Apprenticeship funding which the Training Provider will be able to advise on.
