About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join the University of Oxford as an Apprentice Finance Assistant in IT Services.

You will join a small, friendly team in the IT Services Finance Team, who will support you and help you learn essential finance skills. This is a varied and busy role, which will give you the opportunity to experience a range of finance areas. You will develop a solid foundation in general finance undertaking activities such as managing purchasing to pay activities, financial journal entries, and supporting the Finance Team. In addition, you will specialise in the area of purchasing to pay, and finance management, learning the full processes for each from beginning to end.

Grade and salary: Apprentice Grade 1 £20,047

Hours: Full time(36.5 hours per week)

Contract type: Fixed-term Apprenticeship 3 year Apprenticeship

About the apprenticeship

As part of this role, you will undertake an Apprenticeship with Abingdon & Witney College, where you will complete the AAT Level 2 Foundation Certificate in Accounting and the AAT Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Accounting. For this apprenticeship, you will work at IT Services in Oxford. As part of your apprenticeship, you will be required to attend Abingdon & Witney College. During your apprenticeship, you will need to attend either Abingdon or Witney Campus for 10 days or professional training (1 day per week, over 10 weeks). If English or maths functional skills are required, you will need to attend for a further 7 days (one day per week, over 7 weeks) for each subject. Entries to AAT Level 3 will also be welcome.

In total, it will take 3 years to complete all elements of the apprenticeship, with support from the Department, University, and College throughout.

About you

You will be passionate about starting your career in finance and excited about the opportunity of becoming an apprentice at the University of Oxford. You may be starting your career or you may be looking for a career change.

To complete the level 2 apprenticeship you will need to have a minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade C and above including English and Maths. For direct entry to Level 3 you will need to evidence passes at 9-4 or A*-C in GCSE Maths and English. If you did not achieve these grades, do not let that put you off from applying as you can study Functional Skills as part of the apprenticeship giving you the equivalent qualifications needed. These qualifications are completed over 7 days. To help check that you have the potential to achieve these, Abingdon & Witney College will ask you to complete a short initial assessment during the application process.

There are also government residency requirements for Apprenticeship funding which the Training Provider will be able to advise on.
