Improving Careers Support for Everyone in England

During the summer four major organisations working in the careers sector, namely Assessment Services Ltd; Careers England, the Career Development Institute and the Quality in Careers Consortium, met to discuss and respond to the joint report of the Education, Skills and the Economy Sub-Committee of the Business, Innovation and Skills and Education Committees, published in July 2016. This is the latest of a long line of reports to emerge over recent years expressing concerns about the state of CEIAG in schools in England.

The positive news is that all four organisations were united in these discussions and have this week announced the attached joint statement, which comprises six key points upon which we all agree. Amongst other recommendations, the Joint Sub-Committee called for greater clarity on the relationship between the matrix Standard and the Quality in Careers Standard; an appendix to this statement provides a clear overview.
