Stand Out Young Champions 2021-22 – West Midlands

Role Description

Stand Out Young Champions are a group of young people who are passionate about getting young people’s voices heard. They are aged 18-29 and live or work or study in the West Midlands, England. Stand Out Young Champions will have an impact on the Stand Out lottery funded programme which seeks to help young people access Birmingham Commonwealth Games time work and volunteering opportunities. Their role lasts for 16 months. They are trained and supported to manage a steering group of adults and young people alike.

The Young Champions can:

  • Challenge the effectiveness of the Stand Out programme in the lead up to, during and after Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022
  • Evaluate whether West Midlands Combined Authority has made the right decisions on the programme
  • Consider and comment on how well the programme is achieving results to reach and help those less advantaged young people.

As a team, they will work together to ask the tough questions, problem solve and champion brilliant work and volunteering opportunities for everyone!

The Aim – to identify work and volunteering opportunities for young people during and after the Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022, so they can learn new work-related skills, and potentially, get jobs.

You must be:

  • Be aged 18-29
  • Live, work or study in West Midlands
  • Want to develop new skills
  • Have a sense of humour
  • Want to have fun and make new friends!
