Results Day tips for students – from a teacher! #GetIntoTeaching

When you’re waiting for exam results, teachers are there for you. Mr Rhee, Director of Learning for Design, Technology and Art at the Harris Academy, has some great tips brought to you by Get Into Teaching.

What is the best thing about results day as a teacher?

The best thing about results day is the joy you see from students when they receive their results. It is a celebration and a time to discuss the next steps into further education or work. As teachers we are there to guide each student through the transition from KS4 into the world of further education or work.

What are your top tips for young people on results day?

  • Top tips for students on results day are, try not to bottle up your feelings… talk to friends, family, teachers, and careers advisors.
  • Plan for the best and worst outcomes.
  • Exams don’t always go to plan but remember the people around you are here to help with your next steps.
  • Have someone with you when you collect your results to offer you reassurance and celebrate your success.
  • Don’t feel as if you have to open your results in front of everyone, you can do this in your own time.
  • Don’t compete or compare your results with others.
