This role is to work within our reception team and support the administration team. Core receptionist competencies will be gained along side a number of administration tasks completed in general practice.
this is a front patient facing role and also includes back office working as part of a bigger team. IT skills are important but customer service skills are essential. You need to be understanding and helpful and full training will be given.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POST

1. Reception duties

(i.) Respond to all requests by patients requiring appointments with member of the clinical team, ensuring adherence to the practice protocol for booking appointments
(ii.) Periodically monitor patients still waiting to see the clinician to ensure patients are seen in a timely manner.
(iii.) Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover, ensure procedures to add these patients to the clinical system are completed.
(iv.) Advise patients of relevant charges for private services, accept payment and issue receipts for same.
(v.) Respond to all queries and requests for assistance from patients and other visitors.
(vi.) Enter requests for home visits and telephone calls into the appointments system, including all relevant information and where necessary refer to the Duty Doctor.
(vii.) Ensure that requests for prescriptions are processed within the practice set time frame.
(viii.) Action requests for ambulance transportation and enter details in appropriate book,
(ix.) Ensure reception and waiting areas are kept neat and tidy.
(x.) Ensure adequate supplies of stationary and relevant forms are available within the reception area.
