About Our Guest Speakers

Nick Slater (he/they) is the Stonewall Young Futures Manager. Nick has worked at Stonewall for over three years across our workplace and global programmes, supporting employers on their LGBTQ+ inclusion and working with global civil society organisations on research and advocacy. Since September 2021, Nick has been the project manager for Stonewall’s exciting new digital platform to support LGBTQ+ young people not in education, training or work. Nick is currently studying a Master of Laws degree in Human Rights, covering areas including equality law, gender and sexuality, and asylum and refugees.

Before joining Stonewall, Liz established a contextual safeguarding approach to serious youth violence, designing programmes and initiatives that support communities as opposed to policing them. Liz also launched eight youth-led campaigns ranging from Decolonising the Curriculum to police brutality, housing and racial justice.

About Stonewall

Stonewall stands up for the rights of lesbian, gay, bi, trans, queer, questioning and ace (LGBTQ+) people everywhere. Their campaigns drive positive change in public attitudes and public policy. Stonewall ensures LGBTQ+ people can thrive throughout their lives by building deep, sustained change programmes with the institutions that have the biggest impact on them, whether they’re learning, working, praying or playing sport. Over the last 30 years, Stonewall has helped create transformative change in the lives of LGBTQ+ people in the UK. In the UK LGBTQ+ people have equal rights to love, marry and have children, and our lives, families and relationships are represented as part of the national curriculum in most of the UK.

Stonewall Young Futures is an exciting new digital platform to support LGBTQ+ young people taking the next step into education, training or work. Created in collaboration with LGBTQ+ young people, the platform offers signposting and advice on education, training, skills, careers, and work as well as support on mental health, self-advocacy and homelessness.
