Darlington Borough Council and its partners invite 11 – 30 year olds to join them on a Youth Advisory Group to help shape the future of Darlington.

Young people from all over Darlington are invited to apply to take part in the Advisory Group, no experience is necessary but the team are looking for young people who have some great ideas of what works and what doesn’t. We want to hear from young people on what it will take to make Darlington a great place for all young people.

The Youth Advisory Group will work directly with the project taskforce and Youth Employment UK and have a genuine influence in not only shaping, but creating a Youth Friendly Darlington.

What will you have to do?

  • Attend meetings and workshops with other members of the Advisory Group where you will share ideas, review the activity and output of the project taskforce.

Qualifications

  • Be aged between 11 and 30
  • Live within the Darlington Area
  • Have some ideas that you would like to share
  • Be passionate about helping to make Darlington great for young people

Knowledge and Experience

  • Ability to work well with others
  • Be reliable and dependable
  • Have a positive and helpful attitude
  • Be passionate about the opportunities available to young people

How do you apply?

Youth Employment UK is managing the application process and will be supporting the Advisory Group. Please click the button below and complete this short application form which asks you to tell us a little about yourself and asks you to answer these three questions:

We want this to be an inclusive Advisory Group and welcome young people with special education needs, disabilities, those who are LGBTQ+, Black, asian or from an ethnic minority group or who have been or are on free school meals to apply.

Who is the Youth Friendly Darlington for?

The scope of this work and the Youth Advisory Group will be to help young people in Darlington from age 11 up to 30-years-old. The youth-friendly place work will be co-designed by young people from Darlington through the development of a Youth Advisory Group.

The Youth Advisory Group will be a fundamental part of the Youth Friendly Darlington and will provide essential advice, guidance and support to the project taskforce.

Purpose/ role of the Youth Advisory Group

The broad purpose of the group is to work closely with the project taskforce to support the development of Youth Friendly Darlington

The core aims/ responsibilities of the group are to:

  • To support the thinking and development of the Youth Friendly Darlington project
  • To share relevant information, and use personal experiences to support the work of the group;
  • To advocate for the work of the group and support with external communication, events and activities to promote the Youth Friendly Darlington
  • To act as a critical friend to the project taskforce and ensure that the aims and objectives stay true to the needs of young people
  • Support any evaluation and ongoing development of Youth Friendly Darlington
