Be Kind To Yourself

You would be kind to friends going through hard times – so be kind to yourself, too.

It is not useful to put your emotions in a box and never open it. You can't recover from tough emotions by simply deciding not to feel them!

It’s also not healthy to punish yourself for how you’re feeling with unkind thoughts. This will make you feel worse, not better.

Think about how you would treat a friend who came to you and said they were feeling down. You would listen, and want to help them and understand what they were going through. You would want to treat them with kindness.

You can also be a good friend to yourself and be kind to yourself.

Give yourself a moment to think how you are really feeling. If you need some personal space and time out, or you need a treat to brighten your day, or you need to address the big issue and get things moving forward, be willing to give yourself the help you are asking for inside.
