What are an organisation’s values and why are they important?

An organisation’s values are a set of core beliefs that guide how the company should approach everything it does. They provide a constant reference point – a framework for success that gives people focus and a sense of purpose. Reinforcing these values feeds them into the everyday decisions and actions of the company so that every employee is working towards a shared goal at the best of their ability with the company values in mind.

What are World Class basics?

World class basics are important at Youth Employment UK. It’s all about getting the basics right and the impact of your own performance on your team. It can be shown in even the smallest ways, such as providing the best quality communication in emails or making sure you are prepared ahead of every meeting.

Everyone in a team has their own unique skills, knowledge, and experience that, when utilised in the right way, can help the team collectively take the next step towards a company’s goal.

Rugby Coach Ian McGeechan on World Class basics

Doing the world class basics, especially when under pressure, is something that rugby coach Ian McGeechan fosters in the world of sport.

He often speaks about the importance of world class basics in a team and its impact on shared success:

“Often it’s the basics; it’s actually delivering something that you know you can do or needs to be done that makes a difference when it matters. It’s not show, it’s impact on performance and that to me is elite performance because it’s changing what everybody can do and how everybody can operate at their maximum.”
