What YEUK means to young people

Young People

We just wanted to share a letter we received from a young person in London who had come across YEUK and the work we are doing to tackle youth unemployment.  For us this captures everything that is brilliant about young people and why our work is so vital.

To Whom It May Concern

I watched your video and the butterflies and excitement I feel about this campaign is electrifying.

I was that young person from a disadvantage background that hated school and had no interest in what I became.

I strongly believe that this campaign can change the lives of so many young people up and down the country.  Having organisations understand the great values young people can add to their businesses and giving opportunities for them to grow and reach their potential, while being aware of the barriers they may face along the way is so importance especially in today society- where citizenship is not considered essential in the national curriculum.

I am currently studying at xxxx College (London), and am the elected president of my student union and an active member of NUS student movement most recently being elected to their national executive council.

During my role as president I will be running the #YouthFriendlyMP campaign within my college and have already begin to plan how to get more students engaged and lobbying  our MPs- so I’m really excited to be contributing toward this campaign.

However I really want to get more involved in this campaign and help in any way possible, I do have caring responsibilities so will need advance notice, but I would like to be an ambassador and speak on behalf of Young people, as well as representing my local community and students. Please give me a call if my assistance would be of any help towards you.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank you for running this project, as it so refreshing to see that the well-being and development of young people is considered important, because of projects like this my younger sibling, cousin and children will have a better chance of employment.

As I mentioned above my college will be running and supporting this campaign and one of my campaign activities would include getting all student to write a comment about their experience of unemployment or the importance of businesses being youth friendly, and I was just wondering if you had any of this resources already. If not would it be possible to send over your logo and any marketing so I can get one created.

Really look forward to hearing from you!

Kind Regards

S Martin
