  • What next – keeping in touch

As youth employment experts and in our position as secretariat for the APPG for Youth Employment, here at Youth Employment UK we know that work experience plays a vital part in supporting young people to transition between education and employment. Good work experience can boost skills, confidence and create networks that can transform the journey for young people.

In our 2018 Youth Voice Census, young people told us how important work experience was to them. Yet the Census also revealed that less than 50% of young people benefit from work experience whilst in education. This can cause a real challenge as many employers cite the value of work experience and will prioritise candidates with experience.

Ensuring the experiences on offer are of high quality and inclusive is also important. Youth Employment UK has developed good youth employment standards including those for work experience, this webinar provides insight and ideas to help businesses develop or enhance existing programmes.
