Why voting matters if you are 18-24

It is often said that politicians priorities the polices that benefit the older generations.  Why? Because its usually the older generation that can be found at the polling station on election day.lyv

When the politicians rely on their voters to keep winning them elections you can understand why they might play to the hand of the older voters.

Where does that leave the policies for young people?  We need better policies for youth employment, education, job creation, housing, mental health, youth services and the list goes on….

The policies or funding wont come whilst young people dont make it to the polling stations.  That is why your vote matters.  We each have a responsibility to make the voices of young people heard and demand improvement for the services they need.

Its OK if you don’t know who to vote for, its OK if you don’t actually want to vote for any of them, but take your Poll Card and vote, even it means putting a line throughout and spoiling the card.  That way the politicians will know you don’t think they represent you, but they will also know you care and can make a difference at future elections!
