Supporting WorldSkills UK to develop free careers resources for young people

Youth Employment UK has worked in partnership with WorldSkills UK to to develop a free careers education programme for Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students across the UK.

The digital Careers Advice Toolkit is now available to download from WorldSkills UK and contains 19 interactive, engaging and impartial lesson plans for students across KS3 & 4. The lessons are all mapped to Gatsby Benchmarks and linked to the CDI Framework for Careers Education as well as the skills framework from The Skill Builder Partnership.

The aim of the resources is to help young people challenge stereotypes, develop their skills and confidence and provide the tools they need to explore the range of careers and pathways (technical, vocational and academic) that are available to them. It is hoped that students will be able to see themselves as Young Professionals and value the importance of Skill Competitions as part of their journey to successful employment.

Youth Employment UK was delighted to be chosen for this project based on our youth employment and careers expertise. As part of the project Youth Employment UK worked closely with a number of partner schools and colleges to understand what resources would be of most use to them given limited resources and timetables, a full analysis of existing resources and best practice frameworks was completed to ensure that the resources met the needs of educators and young people alike.

A young student involved in the testing of the resources said “the session was useful, helping me to think about my future career and the skills I need to develop, I enjoyed the session”

You can now access the full toolkit here.
