How To Sprinkle Magic On Your CV

This Young Professional activity will help you get ahead of the game by getting your CV into top shape.

Activity: Get Your CV Into Shape And Get Ahead Of the Game

Maybe you’ve already got a CV. In which case, congrats! Maybe you haven’t got a CV – yet. Either way, it’s fine. By the end of this activity you will have a fully up to date CV that has the magic touch, and you can use it whenever you want to apply for opportunities.

Ready to make a CV with the wow factor? Let’s begin.

First, you need a CV.

You can search online for CV templates, but to save you time, we are big fans of this one. It’s a great template for school leavers. Even if you have a CV, it’s worth grabbing this template to make sure you are working with a CV that is clean, simple and has the info you need on it.

Important: You don’t just copy the information on a template. If you don’t have a car, remove the bit where it says you have a car. A CV template is just a useful box to put your own information into. Everything in that CV should be truthful and in your own words.

Now, you need to add your information

Use our CV guide for beginners to understand exactly what you should put into your CV. Even if you already have a CV, use this guide to make sure you have talked about yourself in a way that makes employers want you on their team.

What about your personal statement?

Every great CV has a personal statement. This is an introduction to YOU. It talks about your skills, life goals, and what you can offer.

Use our personal statement guide for beginners to help you write a great personal statement. When you’re writing it, think about what you’ve learned over the last six weeks about your skills. It’s important to have the confidence to talk about your skills and relevant achievements in your personal statement. Let your light shine.

Have you included all your work experience?

Even if you haven’t done any work placements or volunteering yet, don’t worry! You can still add work experience to your CV. We’re here to help you put something on your CV RIGHT NOW.

Virtual Work Experience Course

Complete our Virtual Work Experience Course and you’ll get a certificate of completion when you’re done. You can do it online, wherever you are, at your own pace. When you finish you will know so much more about work experience and making the most of work placements. Completing this course shows employers you’re serious about getting ahead of the game of life, even if you don’t have much work experience yet.

If you’re feeling strong in your own power, or even if you just want to add something to your CV, try our bonus activity for week 6! When you complete it you will have applied for the opportunity of your choice, whether it’s learning a new skill, a virtual work placement, or a host of other opportunities that match your age, goals and interests.

Every time you boost your CV, it helps you get opportunities you are excited by. Every time you successfully apply for an opportunity or complete a free online course, it gives you something with wow factor to put on your CV as you build up experience. It’s a win-win situation.

So sprinkle magic on your CV, get apply, and good luck 🙂
