If you want to get into financial careers with a fun social atmosphere, Youth Friendly Employer DST are here for you. Find out more about the social side of DST careers.
When you’ve left education and you’re ready to look for work, you can get snowed under with jobs that sound interesting. The catch? You’ve got no idea what it’s like to really work there.
It’s hard to go from being in a student community to the world of work, where you have to make new friends all over again. Here at DST, we understand that.
Corporate office work in a big company is a different world from where you’re coming from. But it’s worth exploring. You’ll enjoy trying out new things to boost your career prospects, AND we provide you with a friendly and welcoming social atmosphere to learn new skills in.
Sports and social committees
Whether you’re an apprentice or joining our company as a young person, being a member of DST is always fun. That social support of people who work for us is just one of the reasons why DST has been credited as a Youth Friendly Employer. Our Sports and Social Committee volunteers from across the organisation organise a huge range of events for you to enjoy.
Social events at DST include:
- Theatre trips
- Quiz nights
- Trips abroad (yes, really!)
- Football tournaments
- Bowling nights
- … and much more
All social and sporting events are updated on our company intranet page (a private website just for employees) every day, so you’ll always be able to see what kind of fun is coming up.
“One of my favourite parts of the apprenticeship is the people I work with. Everyone is so friendly and makes you feel very welcome.
-Izzy, DST Apprentice
Save money on the fun you have outside work, too
The Sports and Social Committee also help negotiate excellent staff discounts for you with retailers, gyms and restaurants. Because you have your own life to live outside work, and we want you to enjoy it without going out of pocket! It’s just one way we take care of our apprentices… and all our staff
Retail therapy – DST brings the high street to YOU!
If it’s a bit of retail therapy you’re looking for then great, because DST brings the high street to you! We have visiting retailers to our offices selling everything from greetings cards and jewellery, cakes and sweets, to clothing and remote control toys.
The group forum – get your voice heard
The Group Forum is an international group of employee representatives who act as a conduit between our colleagues and our Senior Leaders to discuss companywide issues. These issues range from clarity around business reorganisation and grading structures, to corporate branding and prices in the canteens.
The Forum basically offers a platform for employees to be heard so they can better engage with the Business.
What does this mean in plain English? You get space to have your opinions heard, because your opinions matter. Knowing you can help make company improvements can also help you really feel like you belong.
Community care and charity events
DST has several dedicated and active Charity Committees that regularly meet to organise events so we can all be big-hearted and give something back. It’s nice for our employees, too – you can participate in fun social events knowing you’re doing something to give back to the community.
Each year the Committee actively supports chosen charities and we also operate a ‘Give As You Earn’ (GAYE) scheme which allows you to donate to charity directly from your gross salary.
Could an Apprenticeship with DST be your way in?
We’ve got a wide range of apprenticeships on offer. We recognise that your personal strengths and willingness to learn are more important than your qualifications and experience. Take a look at some of our apprenticeships below. Their long titles may sound complex, but we believe this is work you can realistically achieve and will enjoy. It can lead to amazing careers with DST, too.
