Support Work Experience Week 2016!

Fair Train Logo - High ResoloutionWe are proud to be supporting Work Experience Week 2016! We’ll be talking about the importance of quality work experience, and sharing young people’s views and stories too.
Work Experience Week, organised by national charity Fair Train, developers of the Work Experience Quality Standard accreditation, is dedicated to raising awareness of the benefits of high quality experiences of work, including traineeships and apprenticeships, demonstrating the difference a high quality placement can make to an individual’s employment prospects and life.

Nadhim Zahawi MP has joined a host of influential supporters from the worlds of business and education to lend his support to this year’s Work Experience Week.
Nadhim is Conservative MP for Stratford-upon-Avon and the former apprenticeship adviser to the Prime Minister.
As an official Work Experience Week Champion for this year’s campaign, Nadhim said: “Before entering Parliament I founded the market research company YouGov and so I know first-hand that whenever I was looking to hire somebody I wasn’t interested in what qualifications they had. Instead what I was looking for was the work experience that showed they could do the job. Providing real world, on the job experience is often the key to helping young people into work, whether you gain it through an internship, a traineeship or an apprenticeship. That is why initiatives like Work Experience Week are absolutely vital, and I am delighted to play a part in supporting it.”
Beth Brook, CEO of Fair Train said: “We are thrilled to have a number of high profile individuals supporting Work Experience Week 2016, who all agree that high quality work experience is vital to closing the skills gap. The week really provides a platform for employers and learning providers to showcase best practice and encourage others to do the same. The apprenticeship levy and implications following Brexit will lead to policy reform and change within the sector; let’s use this opportunity to ensure that quality remains the priority when it comes to education and training.”

Work Experience Week takes place from 10th-14th October 2016, and will see hundreds of events happening across the country, engaging employers, learning provider and learners. See who else is supporting the campaign and download your free toolkit then join in the conversation using #WEWeek2016.
