How can the financial sector, policy makers and civil society respond to young adults’ financial experiences and expectations?

Since early 2019 Common Vision has been conducting research to understand millennial money habits, behaviours and what younger generations need from financial services to become more financially resilient and make informed financial decisions. Over the course of the Millennials and Money project we’ve conducted extensive literature reviews, polling of 2000 adults, online focus groups and qualitative interviews with young people.

This event will mark the launch of the final summary report, drawing together insights for financial providers and policymakers. Our research looked at how different life stages and transitions influence a young person’s immediate and longer-term approaches to money management, and who millennials view to be trusted and reliable sources of information about money and finances.

Now we want to open up the conversation, test out our findings and think about how the financial sector, government and civil society can work together to boost financial resilience among young adults.

Speakers include:

Baroness Ros Altmann, Conservative life peer and leading UK pensions expert

This project is supported by the Current Account Switch Service (CASS), the UK’s sole designated current account switch service. CASS is working with Common Vision to seek to understand how younger people navigate an increasingly complex market and what they identify as the key components of a convenient, useful and reliable banking product. This research will help CASS to ensure it continues to deliver successfully in the future.
