We’re looking for employers and young people to attend The Big Conversation 2018.

The Big Conversation is an upbeat and informative event bringing employers and young people together in a meaningful discussion on the issues surrounding youth unemployment.

The event will focus on roundtable discussions that make up The Big Conversation, helping and inspiring young people to talk about their experiences of being unemployed and the issues they face.

These informal discussions will be well facilitated and will provide an opportunity for employers to share their own stories and give advice to young people looking to find work, as well as inspiring delegates and allowing them to better understand the issues young people face in gaining employment. Andy Burnham, the Mayor of Greater Manchester, will also be speaking with an opportunity for attendees to ask questions.  It will be a valuable opportunity to create networks between employers, young people and talent coaches.

During the day’s conversations, we’ll be asking employers to tweet a pledge about how their business can open up access to employment for young people. Following the event, employers will have the opportunity to work with Business in the Community’s Future Proof campaign team, backed by the City & Guilds Group, who can take employers through some of the practical steps your business can follow to break down the barriers in their own recruitment process for all young people.

Greater Manchester Talent Match is a Big Lottery-funded programme bringing together the private, public and voluntary sectors to support young people aged 18-24 who have not been in employment, education or training for twelve months or more and who need extra support to help them along their pathway to work.

You can read more about the benefits of employing young people on our website or see the video from the 2017 event here.
