Greater Manchester Talent Match are pleased to announce the latest instalment in the Employer Workshop series.
As part of Future Proof Greater Manchester – the Business in the Community (BITC) campaign helping businesses create quality and accessible jobs for all young people – Greater Manchester Talent Match and BITC are hosting a free workshop focused on how employers can make the most of apprenticeship programmes:
Date: Thursday, March 15 2018
Time: 12:30 – 16:00 (lunch provided)
Venue: St Thomas Centre, Ardwick Green North, Manchester, M12 6FZ
Booking spaces are available (limited and allocated on a first come, first served basis). If you would like to attend, please sign up here to be added to the guest list.
The workshop will explore how businesses can use the apprenticeship levy to provide growth opportunities and hear how other employers are getting the most out of the levy funding
Apprenticeships have often been a route for a lot of young people to get into work after school. They provide great opportunities to provide diversity within the workforce and feed into businesses’ talent pipelines. Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester, has recently committed to supporting a 16 per cent increase in people from black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds starting apprenticeships. However, since the government implemented the apprenticeship levy in April 2017 (to help more companies to start providing apprenticeships within their workforce), there has been a 59 per cent fall in the number of apprenticeship starts compared to the previous year.
Atteding delegates will:
- Receive the latest news on the apprenticeship landscape.
- Hear case studies from businesses such as the BBC, who have adapted methods for reaching out to those young people furthest away from the job market.
- Collaborate and share challenges and top tips around apprenticeships.
- Learn more about the opportunities to get involved in Greater Manchester Talent Match and hear their legacy plans for the future
Please note that by signing up to this workshop, you are happy for your details to be shared with both Business in the Community and Greater Manchester Talent Match. Your details will not be shared with other third-party partners.
