School of Thought

How much do you know about the Automotive Industry?

In a changing world… we still need wheels.

The Automotive Industry refers to the world of cars and vehicles. Vehicles are here to stay. They may become self-driving or change how they look, but we will always need ways to help people and items get from A to B.

The Automotive Industry is huge, full of variety… and always thinking about the future.

In a changing world… you can belong.

Forget stereotypes! You don’t have to work with engines. You could be a hotshot lawyer, software specialist or events organiser working in this exciting industry.

Scroll down to explore what jobs you could do based on your interests, and see how to get your foot in the door.

So what could your next career steps be?

Get your early career moving when you leave school

The Automotive Industry has a wide range of Apprenticeships available and it’s currently developing Traineeships to help you get ahead as soon as you like in life.

Apprenticeships include those working with repairing vehicles, providing customer service or administrative roles as well as parts and vehicle damage assessment. Behind the wheel, under the chassis, in the office, out in the field… it’s up to you.

From local work experience to global horizons

Automotive industry employers offer work experience through Schools & Colleges as well as providing weekend/holiday work for young people, to help give you a taste of what’s out there.

Maybe you want to live and work in the UK. Maybe you want to spread your wings and fly further afield. Either way, it’s fine – lots of early career opportunities in the UK can lead to you working in the global market, if that excites you.
